THE BATH STUDIO

800 sq ft I completed I Pune, India

The Bath Studio is a retail showroom designed as a gallery where the products are perceived as pieces of art. The lighting design enhanced the strong geometry of the interiors through sharp shadows and high contrast.

Studio Trace conceived the lighting scheme to be a perfect amalgamation of direct and indirect lighting. Lights were strategically placed to avoid glare and to prevent any shadow multiplication caused by the ceiling curves. Focusing of the fixtures, perfected over multiple site mockups, ensured that there was no distracting reflections in the glass windows and doors after the sun went down.

The cantilevered wooden balconies were highlighted and became a signature feature of the project, distinguishing the showrooms from its neighbors. The central conference room casts sharp shadows outwards - emphasizing the notion of a lampshade.

The technical specifications of the light fixtures installed took careful cognizance of the color rendering of the wood, emphasizing the grains. The overall lighting scheme drew the visitors attention to the different textures and colors hidden in the strong form and intricate details.
