NATIVE restaurant

Fine dining | Completed - 2023 | Mumbai, India

The lighting creates a captivating atmosphere at Native, a fine dining restaurant located within IF.BE. Thoughtfully chosen lighting enhances the ambiance and presentation, making it an integral part of the artistic and culinary journey this unique space offers.

The colour rendering of light was a crucial factor while selecting the luminaires. The bespoke direct-indirect luminaires elegantly highlight the brick walls, creating a warm ambience where one can relax. The lighting design sought to strike a balance, ensuring nothing was overly bright or too dim.

The main focus of the space is the stunning 140-year-old wooden roof, whose scale is a rarity in Mumbai's architectural landscape. Uplighting the wooden rafters of the sloping roof encourages the viewer's gaze upward, accentuating the space's verticality and structural grandeur.

This layered lighting design involved extensive mockups, testing, and fine-tuning, eventually winning unanimous appreciation for the design.
